Duties

  • Function as a full team member of the interdisciplinary team serving patients at StLouis VA Medical Center
  • Provide complete range of dental care to patients including removable and fixed prosthodontics - periodontics - oral surgery - restorative dentistry - endodontics - and restoration of implants
  • Ensure follow-up clinic visits for existing dental problems
  • Document assessments and plans of care for each patient in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure continuity of patient care
  • Collaborate and act as a patient advocate
  • Maintain knowledge of new and current clinical methods

Requirements

  • Proficiency and productivity in all areas of General Dentistry including restorative - prosthodontics - endodontics - periodontics - and oral surgery
  • Excellent diagnostic skills and the ability to triage - diagnose - and manage a broad spectrum of urgent and chronic dental problems in a patient population with a high percentage of medically compromised individuals

Qualifications

  • Acceptable standards of professional care in VA facilities
  • Full responsibility for the proper care and treatment of assigned patients within VA systems

  • Demonstrated ability in the field of general dentistry or a dental specialty
  • Ability to assist in maintaining accepted standards of professional care in VA facilities
  • Accepting full responsibility for the proper care and treatment of assigned patients within VA systems

Physical Requirements

  • In Accordance with VA Directive and Handbook 5019
  • The Physical requirements of this position include the following tasks which may be performed intermittently:
  • - lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • - sitting (4 hours)
  • - standing (2 hours)
  • - walking (2 hours)
  • - bending/stooping (1 hour)
  • - twisting (1/2 hour)
  • - simple grasping (4 hours)
  • - fine manipulation (6 hours)
  • - reaching above the shoulder (1/2 hour)
  • - and operating machinery (1/2 hour).
