Duties VA offers a comprehensive total rewards packageGENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNED DUTIESThe general practice dental officer serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective - restorative - or preventive measuresFUNCTIONS OR SCOPE OF DUTIESThe General Dentistry dental officer shall be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry including the ability to perform selected specialty servicesSpecifically - the provider should possess the expertise and competency to perform the following: 1Make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity 2Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions3Administer local anesthesia4Perform routine and complex restoration of teeth5Perform simple and complex extractions of teeth6Perform prosthetic dentistry to include immediate dentures - full dentures - partial dentures - crowns - and fixed bridge work7Perform simple routine endodontic procedures on single and multi-canal teeth8Perform routine and surgical procedures within the scope of a general dentistThe scope of practice that a specific provider may perform is defined through the medical center credentialing and privileging processWork Schedule: Monday - Friday - 08:00 am -04:30 pm Virtual: This is not a virtual positionRelocation/Recruitment Incentives: May be AuthorizedEDRP Authorized: Contact Karen Chapman karen.chapman@va.gov - the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistanceLearn more Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorizedBargaining Unit: This position is a AFGE Bargaining Unit position.
