Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs a combination, but not necessarily all, of the following duties:

Essential Clinical Duties (80%)

  • Provide comprehensive general dental services including diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and patient education.
  • Deliver restorative treatments, performing oral hygiene and preventive procedures.
  • Carry out periodontal services including but not limited to SRP and Periodontal Maintenance, providing endodontic therapy, performing dental extractions, and offering pediatric dental service.
  • Perform examinations, cleanings, restorations, extractions, endodontic procedures, and other indicated treatments within scope of licensure and credentialing.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that ensure high-quality, evidence-based care.
  • Collaborate with dental assistants, hygienists, and support staff to maintain efficient and effective clinical operations.
  • Ensure proper documentation and charting in the electronic dental record in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote oral health education and prevention programs to improve patient and community health outcomes.

Administrative, Quality, Risk, and Compliance Duties (20%)

  • Lead and coordinate dental quality assurance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives across all dental sites.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments and assist in developing mitigation strategies to promote patient safety and reduce potential liabilities.
  • Address and coordinate responses to patient complaints and grievances, ensuring timely, empathetic, and compliant resolutions.
  • Keep up to date clinical performance data and support the Chief Dental Officer and Dental Director in analyzing clinical performance and developing strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Risk management and Quality Department to align oral health quality initiatives with organizational and HRSA standards.
  • Identify trends, conduct root cause analyses, and recommend evidence-based solutions to improve service delivery and patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain and improve quality monitoring tools and dashboards to track performance and outcomes.
  • Conduct and manage dental chart audits, peer reviews, and provide feedback processes.
  • Develop and deliver educational sessions and materials for staff related to compliance, quality improvement, and risk management.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and HRSA regulations applicable St. Johns dental programs.
  • Support provider onboarding and training on compliance, risk, and quality processes.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, quality reporting processes.
