The position involves performing a full range of dental, oral surgical, and specialized prosthetic dentistry duties for a twelve-month period at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC).
Typical Work Activities
- Treats patients referred from other institutions such as Erie County Holding Center, West Seneca Developmental Center, and non-profit agencies like Catholic Charities and other church groups.
- Provides a full range of dental services including oral surgery, prosthetic dentistry, emergency room care, care of trauma patients, and traditional dentistry procedures.
- Assists in developing appropriate patient treatment plans consistent with established protocols of the hospital.
- Makes modifications to treatment plans based on patient progress.
- Supervises and instructs all phases of prosthetic dental laboratory work.
- Orders supplies and equipment for the dentistry division and laboratory.
- Prepares reports as requested.
- Counsels patients on proper dental care and specialized dental needs.

- Thorough knowledge of modern principles and procedures of dentistry and specialized dental procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must be graduates of a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)-accredited U.S. or Canadian dental school, or an international dental school that provides equivalent educational background and standing as determined by the program.
- Must complete a CODA-accredited advanced education program in prosthodontics.
- Eligible for licensure to practice dentistry in New York State by July 1 of the year they start employment with ECMCC and must maintain the license once received.
- Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within sixty (60) days of initial appointment.
Special Requirements
- Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience may be pro-rated toward meeting full-time requirements.
