Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic, preventive, and restorative dental care for the Health Center patients within the scope of practice as directed by Dental Department leadership.
  • Perform clinical examinations and formulate treatment plans.
  • Perform preventive therapy including dental prophylaxis and sealants.
  • Perform all phases of restorative dentistry, including fixed and removable prosthetics.
  • Perform anterior endodontic therapy.
  • Perform periodontal therapy including periodontal charting and scaling and root planning.
  • Perform pediatric dental procedures including pulpotomies and space maintainers.
  • Conduct routine exodontia and minor oral surgical procedures.
  • Participate in the supervision of the dental assistants.
  • Participate in developing clinical standards and monitoring clinical practice against these standards.
  • Participate in various Health Center activities and Committees.
  • Pre-estimate work being done, for Medicaid and private insurance.
  • Assist in the training of new staff.
  • Supervise and mentor dental students and hygiene trainees during clinical rotations, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, patient safety standards, and educational objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with other Health Center staff in meeting JCAHO accreditation and other regulatory and/or funding requirements.
  • Maintain a patient volume consistent with CRCH’s business objectives, prorated based upon the percent of clinical hours worked if less than full time; must retain responsibility for the coordination and supervision of clinical aspects of health care provided to these patients.
  • Participate in community outreach and education activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Dental or designee.

Qualifications

  • DMD/DDS from foreign dental school, and one year of general practice in the United States in Dentistry preferred.
  • Eligible for limited license to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-reflective, open to feedback, and able to alter communication styles based on the audience.
  • Hands-on, serving as a role model for others in the department.
  • Able to work in an environment where there are constant interruptions.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours to meet the organization's needs/demands.
  • Able to travel to either Charles River Community Health site (Brighton and Waltham) as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly with people from diverse cultures, with the ability to understand the community, population, and patients we serve.
  • Believe in the work we do at CRCH, with a strong passion to serve underserved populations in diverse settings.
