Responsibilities
- Provide preventative, complex, and comprehensive dental care services
- Examine patients, diagnose their dental/oral conditions, prescribe and/or carry out appropriate treatments
- Record patient-dentist transactions in the patients dental records
- Complete referrals, data collection instruments, and other records or paperwork
- Refer patients for specialty consultation or treatment if needed
- Educate patients in oral health related conditions and prevention
- Listen to concerns and suggestions and provide follow-up and feedback in a timely manner
- Calm nervous patients
- Respond effectively to patients of all ages
- Train and evaluate assigned staff
- Remain calm and professional under pressure
- Work independently, exercise judgment, and resolve problems
- Follow OSHA protocols for potential mucous membrane or skin contact exposure to blood, fluids, or tissue; use personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate
- Work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and follow basic safety precautions
- Maintain standards of confidentiality of CC Idaho clients and records (Protected Health Information - PHI)
- Perform all work duties and activities in compliance with CC Idaho, Joint Commission, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations
Required Physical Demands
- Frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Reach with hands and arms; grasping/holding
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Depth perception, normal visual acuity, and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to differentiate between colors
Work Environment
- Work in an office setting; the work may be stressful
- Moderate noise level
- Exposed to x-ray equipment, nitrous oxide and oxygen gas tanks, dental chemical and pharmaceutical products, and sterilization equipment
