Dentist

Responsibilities

• Performing emergency and routine dental procedures
• Evaluating inmates needing or requesting dental care
• Making clinically appropriate recommendations
• Treating and scheduling follow-up procedures
• Instructing inmates in good dental hygiene techniques
• Establishing individualized treatment plans
• Maintaining accurate electronic health records
• Ensuring compliance with correctional healthcare standards
• Serving as a clinical resource to healthcare staff
• Maintaining a comprehensive dental program

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Doctoral Degree (DDS or DMD)
• Three (3) years’ related experience
• Florida Dental License (DDS or DMD), DEA Certification
• Maintain appropriate, unrestricted credentials according to the licensure, certification, and registration requirements of the jurisdiction
• CPR – BLS or ACLS Certification
• Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license

Qualifications

• Knowledge of diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums
• Ability to examine inmates to determine nature of condition, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic procedures
• Ability to clean, fill, and extract teeth, using rotary and hand instruments, medications and surgical procedures
• Ability to provide preventive dental services to inmates
• Ability to perform all functions of the job classification without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
• Physical abilities to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 10 lbs., occasionally lift up to 25 lbs., continuously bend, reach, twist, and squat

Schedule

Tuesday-Friday 7am-5:30pm with certain days on call
