Dentist
Responsibilities
- Ensure quality dental care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of patients.
- Diagnose, treat, and provide preventative care for patients.
- Create treatment plans and perform dental procedures, such as extractions and restorations.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient dental records.
- Collaborate with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ oral health needs.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or equivalent.
- Experience in clinical dentistry and correctional settings preferred.
- Valid dental license in the state where the facility is located.
- Current BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
- Active DEA registration.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Technical skills in providing a full range of dental services.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
- Display integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
- Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
