Responsibilities

  • Takes dental histories of all patients upon admission in order to determine extent of care needed.
  • Examines patients and administers tests so that dental malfunctions are discovered.
  • Performs oral surgery as required in order to remedy dental malfunctions.
  • Instructs dental assistants so that oral care can be provided to the patient.
  • Orders laboratory examinations and analysis, x-rays, and specific medication so that complete dental care is provided.
  • Keeps records and makes reports in order to document patients’ dental progress.
  • Supervises qualified dental staff in order to deliver efficient service to patients.

Requirements

  • Current licensure from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry to practice dentistry in Minnesota.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of general dentistry.
  • Skill in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of dental diseases and injuries.
  • Considerable knowledge of recent developments in the field of general dentistry and the characteristics and usages of modern drugs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a dental clinic environment.
  • Ability to provide leadership in working with incarcerated individuals.
  • Ability to supervise dental assistants and dental therapists in clinical dental practice.

Qualifications
