Monday – Thursday 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and Friday 7:45 am to 5:00 pm

Pay

$16.00+ per hour, commensurate with experience

About the role

The Dental Receptionist ensures patient appointments are appropriately scheduled, rescheduled, or canceled based on patient needs. Duties include entering patient information into the data system, answering patient questions, and arranging referrals to other medical or dental specialists. The receptionist will organize and maintain patient waiting areas as well as front-desk areas, performing all duties in a compassionate and timely manner to ensure practice efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients; perform check-in tasks including verifying income, updating patient information (HIPAA, Patient Responsibility forms, etc.), collecting copays, and guiding patients to the waiting area.
  • Assist patients with information forms as needed.
  • Answer phone calls to schedule, reschedule, or follow-up appointments; provide reminder calls (including leaving applicable messages); manage canceled appointments.
  • Verify methods of payment and collect payment as needed.
  • Call insurance companies to verify coverage and determine required co-payments; ensure insurance information is updated correctly in patient charts.
  • Create and update patient case records (e.g., current medications, clinical questions).
  • Prepare patient charts and perform general office duties: answer phones, photocopy, file, fax documents, send medical/dental records, stock office supplies, and keep front-desk areas clean and organized.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • For dental responsibilities: dental assistant or x-ray certification preferred.
  • One (1) year of customer service experience preferred.
  • Computer skills and software aptitude required.
  • Strong communication and compassionate customer service skills required.
  • Multi-line phone proficiency required.
  • Insurance coding and medical or dental terminology preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage multiple schedules, and ensure patient information is complete and up to date required.

Language

Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred
