Dental Hygienist - SCI Camp Hill

The Dental Hygienist position with State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill offers a meaningful opportunity to support patient health within the Department of Corrections. Responsibilities
- Perform hygiene procedures such as periodontal probing, scaling, root planning, polishing, and applying fluorides or sealants
- Prepare workspaces, sterilize instruments, and set up patients for treatment
- Conduct oral screenings and record all findings
- Explain preventive care and provide guidance on oral hygiene and nutrition
- Expose, process, mount, and evaluate dental radiographs for diagnostic use
- File and retrieve dental records and ensure they follow required procedures
Requirements
This position requires special requirements including a license to practice as a dental hygienist as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry, successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA, and the ability to perform essential job functions. Additionally, you must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Qualifications
To be eligible, you must possess a license to practice as a dental hygienist as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry. Other requirements include successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA, and being able to perform essential job functions. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
Skills
Attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to deliver effective preventive care are essential skills for this role.
Benefits
Full-time employment with 37.5 hours per week, work schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework is not available for this position.
Pay
In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry. Documentation will need to be provided at interview to receive additional pay consideration.

Full-time employment with a work schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break.
