Duties
- Takes medical history
- Charts dental caries
- Plays and exposes diagnostic dental x-ray films
- Removes deposits, growths and stains from the exposed surfaces of the teeth
- Applies topical agents for dental treatment
- Removes cement
- Places or removes rubber dam
- Removes sutures
- Places and removes temporary restorations
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a license and current registration to practice as a Dental Hygienist in New York State
- Non-competitive appointment during the NY HELPS Program
- Conversion to competitive status at a future date
- Participation in promotion examinations
