Responsibilities
- Direct Patient Care Plans and prepares oral prophylaxis, scaling, and root planning, and other preventative services for patients.
- Applies current knowledge of technical and clinical aspects of dental hygiene while treating patients.
- Provides education to patients on preventative and oral health care.
- Completes oral screenings and assessments of new patients and develops oral care plans.
- Reviews patient histories for proper precautions and records medical treatment in patient charts.
- Provides patient care to a minimum of four to five patients per day, depending on the demands of the schedule.
- Works with the patient scheduler to ensure patients are aware of their appointment, making pre- and post-follow-up calls.
- Works with referring dental offices to serve incoming patient needs as well as existing patients.
Requirements
- Associates degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of experience in a dental clinic.
Qualifications
- Dental Hygienist License.
- More than three years of experience in dental clinic.
- Local anesthesia or nitrous oxide certification.
- Knowledge of infection control and OSHA compliance.
- Experience working in high volume educational institute.
- Advanced knowledge of dental terminology.
- Experience seeing a minimum of four to five patients per day.
- Knowledge of statistical evaluation techniques, scientific writing, and scientific research.
- Knowledge of equipment, materials, standardized procedures, and recent developments in dental hygiene.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
