Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with annual continuing education and CPR requirements as established by the Idaho State Board of Dental Examiners.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with dental and medical professionals in the community.
- Maximize clinical procedures during all scheduled appointment times.
- Adequately utilize the “quick call list to fill cancelled/no show appointments.
- Ensure local anesthetic solutions and materials used for direct patient care have current expiration dates.
- Accurately chart each patient’s periodontal health.
- Communicate with patients in an understandable and professional way.
- Check on patient comfort during treatment to allay patient anxiety.
- Work with the receptionist to schedule hygiene patients with efficiency.
- Perform prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and polishing for designated patients.
- Provide radiographs and topical fluoride applications as prescribed by the dentist.
- Provide patient education sessions and materials.
- Manage hygiene room cleanliness and equipment.
- Process and sterilize instruments and trays.
- Serve as advisor to the Dental Director regarding the total dental program plans and objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the ADA required.
- Two years of experience supervising Dental Assistants in public health or related field preferred.
- Licensed in the State of Idaho or license eligible is required.
