About the role
The Dental Assistant position at AltaMed is dedicated to supporting the dental team in delivering high-quality primary care services to patients. This role involves assisting dentists and dental hygienists, sterilizing equipment, managing supplies, and ensuring proper infection control.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists and dental hygienists in providing dental care services to patients
- Perform sterilization, preparation, and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies
- Ensure proper infection control in all patient-care areas
- Manage and maintain dental equipment and supplies
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Completion of a board-approved course in the Dental Practice Act
- Completion of an accredited course in dental assisting is preferred
- Certified in coronal polishing
- Valid BLS certification or higher, following AHA or American Red Cross guidelines
- Valid CA Driver's License, if assigned to Mobile Units
- Background clearance from DOJ/FBI within 30 days of hire
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
Qualifications
- Accredited course in dental assisting
- Completion of an accredited course in X-Ray and infection control
- Valid CA Driver's License, if assigned to Mobile Units
- Background clearance from DOJ/FBI within 30 days of hire, if assigned to Mobile Units
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
