Responsibilities

  • Preparing patients for dental procedures
  • Aiding patients during treatments
  • Maintaining patient dental records
  • Coordinating dental services and assisting Dentist with patient care
  • Assisting Dentist during treatment by providing instruments, materials, retraction or suction
  • Ensuring all dental equipment is properly maintained and in good working order
  • Maintaining the dental suite clean and well-stocked
  • Sterilizing and disinfecting equipment and tools
  • Assisting in triage, dental sick call requests, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records
  • Explaining dental procedures and oral hygiene practices to patients
  • Taking and developing x-rays
  • Assisting with dental laboratory function

Qualifications

  • New graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Maintain the proper training and unrestricted certification as a Dental Assistant in WY
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Able to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Display integrity, professionalism, and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
