As a Dental Assistant you are an integral part of the care team, providing support to the office and assisting the professional dental staff with treatment. Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
- Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
- Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
- Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed).
- Help the dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and an emergency telephone directory.
Requirements
- Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program or six months on-the-job experience (with supporting documentation).
- X-Ray certification.
- Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
- Prior dental assisting experience is required.
