About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Controls Engineer to support critical automation system upgrades, commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting activities within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role will work closely with the Automation Engineering team to ensure successful integration, testing, and deployment of Emerson DeltaV and associated manufacturing applications. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in industrial automation, distributed control systems (DCS), and validation within pharmaceutical, life sciences, or chemical manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities for Emerson DeltaV systems
- Verify and validate integration between DeltaV and associated manufacturing applications
- Support system upgrades, configuration updates, and deployment activities
- Troubleshoot communication, data transfer, and interface issues between DeltaV and integrated platforms
- Perform testing and witness commissioning activities to ensure systems function as designed
- Execute and document validation activities in accordance with GMP requirements
- Author, review, and execute:
- Installation Qualification (IQ)
- Operational Qualification (OQ)
- System verification protocols
- Deploy upgraded automation systems within active manufacturing environments
- Collaborate with engineering, validation, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure project success
- Document testing results, deviations, and corrective actions in compliance with regulatory standards
Integrated Systems Experience Required
Candidates should have experience working with DeltaV and one or more of the following integrated systems:
- Rockwell FactoryTalk
- OSIsoft PI System
- PAS-X Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
- Data acquisition systems
- Manufacturing execution platforms
- Process automation and historian systems
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
- 7+ years of experience in:
- Industrial Automation
- Controls Engineering
- Process Control Systems
- Manufacturing Automation
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Emerson DeltaV DCS configuration and development
- System commissioning and startup
- Application integration testing
- Automation troubleshooting
- Experience supporting:
- Life Sciences Manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
- Chemical Processing Operations
- Working knowledge of:
- Reactors
- Fluid handling systems
- Filtration equipment
- Purification systems
- Process manufacturing equipment
- Experience executing validation protocols within GMP-regulated environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in FDA-regulated manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of:
- ISA-88 Batch Control Standards
- Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture
- Computer System Validation (CSV)
- GMP documentation practices
- Experience supporting automation modernization or system migration projects

- Comfortable working directly on manufacturing floor automation systems
- Strong understanding of validation and compliance requirements
