About the role
Gulfeagle Supply is a family-owned, full-line distributor of residential and commercial roofing and building products with over 100 locations nationwide. We specialize in servicing professional contractors, homeowners, building owners, architects, and general contractors. Our Delivery Material Handlers work alongside our drivers to ensure the proper delivery of building materials to job sites using forklifts, cranes, conveyors, and/or manual labor. Responsibilities
- Delivery:
- Load or assist in loading and securing materials on trucks daily.
- Verify quantities of materials for accuracy.
- Assist the driver in locating the job site.
- Spot the driver when backing up into a job site.
- Direct the driver in the placement of the conveyor.
- Unload or assist in unloading materials using a forklift, crane, conveyor, and/or by hand (may require walking varying distances based on job site conditions).
- Roof Top:
- Climb up to a 40-foot ladder to deliver materials on a pitch of up to an 8/12 roof.
- Ensure proper stacking and distribution of materials on the roof.
- Equipment:
- Ensure the truck is properly equipped for delivery, including filling the cooler, strapping materials, loading the ladder, and other tasks as needed.
- OSHA Compliance:
- Ensure OSHA compliance as it relates to personal and company safety.
- Inventory:
- Assist in taking inventory quarterly or as needed.
- Maintenance:
- Maintain the warehouse, yard, and trucks in a presentable manner.
- Perform minor repairs as needed.
- Safety:
- Handle materials safely, including wearing a back brace, gloves, shoes, and other safety devices as appropriate.
- Aid in the safe operation of vehicles to protect customer and company property.
- Customer Service:
- Assist customers with materials.
- Report problems with deliveries, service issues, and other concerns as needed.
Requirements
- Read, write, and comprehend English or Spanish as required by the branch location.
- Knowledge of roofing materials and/or construction and distribution.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, and climb.
- Must lift up to 100 pounds of material continually for up to two hours at a time.
- Ability to work on multi-story buildings at various heights.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, rain, or shine.
- High degree of attention to detail to ensure proper delivery while preventing damage to materials and equipment.
- Ability to maintain loyalty to Gulfeagle Supply.
- Ability to interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner; tact and diplomacy required when dealing with customer personnel.
- Ability to handle all job functions safely.
- Must pass substance abuse screening; employees are subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy.

Accountability
Reports directly to the Branch Manager and indirectly to the District Manager on branch and personnel issues. Reports indirectly to the Safety team regarding fleet, safety, and staff.
