General Definition of Work
The delivery driver, school nutrition, under general supervision, performs skill-based work with minimal decision-making discretion preparing school nutrition items for delivery, loading and operating a truck, and performing various activities including pick-up of surplus property. Employee performs both school-based and district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Director of School Nutrition.

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Check the condition of the delivery vehicle before starting daily runs and make minor adjustments as needed
- Determine most efficient procedure for loading and moving large quantities of food and food service equipment in a safe manner
- Drive designated routes to pick up and deliver all School Nutrition related materials including food, supplies, and equipment
- Load and unload truck; unload items at the designated location and place the items in the area specified
- Ensure items are kept in the correct temperature range during the load and unload processes
- Verify accuracy of transmittal papers by ensuring documentation matches the transported materials. Obtain signatures as needed for pick-up and delivery of items
- Operate various warehouse equipment including a forklift, electric power lift, hand drills, hand truck, and any other equipment needed to load and deliver materials and equipment
- Stow stock in proper location within the warehouse
- Absorb and maintain the School Nutrition warehouse in a clean and orderly condition
- Oversee delivery projects or activities and work independent of close supervision
- Perform related work as assigned or required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of county and school board policies, procedures, and standards
- Knowledge of general warehouse operations and best practices
- Skilled in driving commercial cargo vehicles including box trucks and tractor trailers
- Skilled in communication, both verbal and written
- Ability to determine route to follow in adverse traffic
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships
- Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment
- Ability to respond appropriately to situations while maintaining a professional and personable demeanor
- Ability to use or learn specialized tools, equipment, or software
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- One (1) year experience as a delivery driver required
- One (1) year of warehouse experience preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Requirements
- Valid CDL license with a clean driving record is required
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
