Delivery Driver I

About the role

The SWDS Driver is responsible for delivering products to customers from Sherwin-Williams stores using Company vans or pick-up trucks. Drivers ensure deliveries are complete, packed correctly, and safely delivered to the correct customer. They also provide excellent customer service, handle complaints, and adhere to assigned routes and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Ensure deliveries are prepared to meet customer requirements in the most efficient manner
• Load customer orders properly on the truck
• Complete appropriate forms
• Load, transport, and deliver items to customers in a safe, timely manner
• Maintain the store vehicle and alert the supervisor to repair and servicing needs
• Provide excellent customer service, answer questions, and handle complaints from customers
• Adhere to assigned routes and following time schedules
• Absorb all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record
• Prepare reports and other documents relating to deliveries
• Operate equipment and machines, such as cars, trucks, forklifts, etc.
• Perform other tasks in the store, including warehouse duties, tinting, and mixing customer orders and waiting on customers

Requirements

• Minimum age of 21
• Valid, unrestricted Driver’s License
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. on occasion
• Willingness to work all scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends
• Previous work experience in delivery, retail, or customer service
• Experience using material handling equipment
• Previous work experience selling paint and paint related products
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in Spanish (preferred)

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (preferred)
• One year experience working in a delivery, retail, or customer service position
• One year of work experience using material handling equipment
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language (preferred)
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in Spanish (preferred)

Skills

Drivers should possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with material handling equipment and a positive attitude are also essential.

Pay

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case and will impact where actual compensation may fall within the stated wage range. The wage range listed for this role takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions including skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

Schedule

The SWDS Driver role typically involves evening and weekend shifts, with some flexibility depending on the needs of the business.
