Delivery Driver

Probationary full-time, non-exempt hourly position within the Statler Commissary. Union membership may incur lay-offs during University recess periods.

Pay

$17.00/hr (Union Employees: See Appendix “A” of Union contract)

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–3:30 pm. Mandatory overtime as required by the Union Contract.

About the Role

Provide safe delivery of prepared sushi orders, campus mail, and marketing materials using small business vehicles. Includes money handling and deposit responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, load, and unload CDS delivery vehicle.
• Drive to and from assignments, delivering food orders, mail, and marketing materials to various campus units.
• Deliver Staples orders to campus locations.
• Operate CDS vehicle safely; keep vehicle neat, clean, and keys in assigned places.
• Maintain high sanitary, hygienic, and safety standards.
• Work consistently and productively throughout the entire shift.
• Perform general cleaning, other food service duties, and projects as requested by management.

Requirements

• Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean, safe driving record.
• Minimum one year of customer service experience.
• Verifiable cash-handling experience and ability to make change accurately.
• Ability to prioritize work and execute tasks with speed, efficiency, and accuracy in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English; accurate math skills.
• Maintain professional appearance, demeanor, and hygiene.
• Reliable transportation and attendance.

Work Environment

The work environment can be loud and busy, with exposure to kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces, sharp knives, slippery floors, heat, steam, fire, and noise. Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures in coolers and freezers. Requires being in and out of the delivery vehicle throughout an 8-hour shift, making deliveries in all weather conditions and at all campus locations, which may include ascending/descending stairs.

Physical and Mental Demands

• Very active role requiring the ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours.
• Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, stretch, twist, or reach out.
• Regularly required to talk and hear; manual dexterity, auditory, and visual skills.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
• Must be able to use hands to finger, manipulate, stir, measure, pour, cut, chop, dice, and decorate.
• Requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers, and visually inspect (close and distance vision).
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
