Drivers average $83,000 annually with a Monday-Friday schedule, including layovers and occasional Saturdays. Start and end times vary, with drivers averaging upwards of 12-hour days. 4 and 5-day work weeks are available.

About the role

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition. They also serve as the face of our company, building lasting relationships with customers. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, delivering and unloading food and food-related products in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and timely.
  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Report all safety issues and/or required repairs immediately.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules.
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisors about removing orders as per company policy.
  • Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures; collect money (cash or checks) where required.
  • Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, complete necessary paperwork, and perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Complete daily records of hours of service and enter logs in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 12+ months of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL-A.
  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass road test.
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one.
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment (e.g., two-wheeler, lift gate) to move and stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight (10–90 pounds) throughout the shift.
