Delivery Driver

Drivers average $83,000 annually with a Monday-Friday schedule, including layovers and occasional Saturdays. Start and end times vary, with drivers averaging upwards of 12-hour days. 4 and 5-day work weeks available.

About the role

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition while building lasting relationships with customers as the face of our company. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, delivering and unloading food and food-related products in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and timely.
• Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Report all safety issues and/or required repairs immediately.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; report all safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules; unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
• Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about removing orders as per company policy.
• Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures; collect money (cash or checks) where required.
• Load customer returns onto trailer, secure trailer doors, and ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked/secured.
• Unload damaged goods and customer returns; complete necessary paperwork.
• Unload all equipment and materials, remove trash from trailers, and perform general housekeeping duties.
• Complete daily records of hours of service and log entries in accordance with federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• 6+ months of commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL-A.
• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test, criminal background check, and road test.
• Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one.
• Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment (e.g., two-wheeler, lift gate) to move and stack product cases/freight ranging from 10–90 pounds throughout the shift.
