About the Role
This position involves delivering products to customers within a designated area, as well as performing general store team member duties.
Responsibilities
- Operate all equipment and stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, and walk-in cooler.
- Prepare product and receive/process telephone orders.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and facility approximately daily.
- Deliver pizzas and other products to customers within a designated delivery area.
- Deliver flyers and door hangers.
- Navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings and private homes, while carrying product.
- Use navigational skills to read maps and locate addresses.
- Perform tasks requiring standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, and driving.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
- Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
- Ability to comprehend and give correct written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication skills for processing orders over the phone and in person.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to make correct monetary change.
- Motor coordination for rapid and precise movements, including typing on a keyboard or touch screen.
- Navigational skills to read maps and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
Skills
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills for order processing.
- Eye-hand coordination for tasks such as shaping pizza dough, using a pizza peel, and assembling pizza boxes.
- Ability to grasp and manipulate tools like pencils, phones, pizza cutters, and pizza peels.
- Ability to work under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone or with others, and meet strict quality control standards.
Physical Requirements
- Standing: Most tasks are performed from a standing position on ceramic tile or linoleum surfaces.
- Walking: Short distances for short durations, including travel between store, delivery vehicle, and customer locations.
- Sitting: Paperwork is completed at a desk or table.
- Lifting: Deliveries may include cases weighing up to 50 pounds, lifted from the floor and stacked onto shelves up to 72" high. Carry large cans (3 lbs, 7 oz), pizza sauce (30 lbs), and trays of pizza dough (12 lbs per tray).
- Pushing/Pulling: Move trays on dollies requiring up to 7.5 pounds of force.
- Climbing: Navigate stairs or ladders for tasks like changing prices, washing walls, or performing maintenance. Delivery may require navigating five or more flights of stairs.
- Stooping/Bending: Forward bending at the waist for tasks like pizza assembly and stocking ingredients, repeated continuously during the day.
- Crouching/Squatting: Occasionally performed to stock shelves or clean low areas.
- Reaching: Continuously performed in all directions (up, down, forward) for tasks like turning on oven controls, stocking shelves, scooping ingredients, and cleaning.
- Hand Tasks: Frequent and forceful use of hands, forearms, and wrists for shaping dough, using pizza peels, assembling boxes, and grasping tools.
Work Conditions
- Exposure to varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when performing outside tasks or delivering products.
- In-store temperatures range from 36°F in coolers to 90°F or above in some work areas, with sudden temperature changes.
- Exposure to fumes from food odors, cornmeal dust, and cramped quarters like walk-in coolers.
- Hot surfaces and tools, such as ovens up to 500°F or higher, and sharp edges/moving mechanical parts.
- Sensory requirements include talking/hearing on the telephone, near/mid-range vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces. Far and night vision are required for driving.
Training
Orientation and on-the-job training are provided.
