About the role

The Delivery Assistant DOT position assists the service team by delivering Ben E. Keith Beverages product to customers' retail locations. This role involves verifying order accuracy, filling cooler windows and back stock, rotating product, and ensuring a great delivery experience by picking up all cardboard and trash. The position also requires completing necessary paperwork and documenting activities.

Responsibilities

• Build healthy business relationships and establish good communication with retail customers
• Organize and refill backstock, coolers, beer shelves, and displays
• Count, fill, and condense back stock and retailer shelf inventory
• Safely unload orders at customer locations using a hand truck (dolly), manual or electric jack
• Count and verify order completeness with the customer; obtain customer signature and payment
• Verify product order accuracy with the customer
• Collect payment and signature upon delivery
• Check in product and pallets upon return to the warehouse, ensuring the load sheet is properly completed
• Complete paperwork, including depositing checks and money orders to be turned in to the cashier
• Refuel the truck at the end of the day
• Communicate observed opportunities or challenges to sales staff
• Ensure company equipment is in safe, working condition; report any incidents or unsafe conditions immediately
• Operate all company equipment safely and in accordance with company policy
• Build displays as required
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck; document and report any issues
• Work in a variety of settings (grocery, convenience, bar, etc.) and under challenging weather conditions (rain, snow, etc.)
• Meet all DOT and Ben E. Keith safety and compliance standards for company vehicles, driving, loading, and unloading
• Maintain designated backstock areas at customer locations; ensure areas are organized and free of trash
• Project a friendly, professional image at all times
• Attend required meetings
• Prioritize multiple, competing tasks
• Maintain and keep the assigned company vehicle clean at all times
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Assist with delivery of Ben E. Keith Beverage products to customers
• Fill in for drivers (vacation, open positions, etc.) as needed

Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Able to coordinate multiple activities and follow through with commitments
• Good oral and written communication skills; ability to work well in a team environment
• Highly motivated, results-oriented, with strong attention to detail
• Organized with the ability to handle multiple priorities
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
• Must be able to read and write English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to move products weighing up to 165 lbs., stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear
• Basic computer skills preferred
• Ability to work in various weather conditions
• Must be 21 years or older
• Ability to operate/drive a single-axle truck with a 27 ft. trailer
• Texas Class A CDL driver’s license with a clean MVR required
• High school graduate or GED required

Driver safety is important to Ben E. Keith. Dash cameras leveraging artificial intelligence are used to recognize safe driving, capture safety events, and improve driver safety performance. Videos may also be used to exonerate drivers in accidents. All drivers sign a consent form upon hire.
