Delivery and Set Up Driver Trainee

About the role

This position offers a $1000 sign-on bonus to new Ricoh team members. The Delivery Driver Trainee will receive training to achieve efficient and quality pick-up, relocation, delivery, installation, and networking of office equipment in a safe manner. Upon completion of the trainee program, the trainee will transition into a full Delivery Driver role.

Trainee Program Requirements

  • Completion of assigned Pro Tread Courses
  • Meet driving standards including successful completion of Smith System Training, road test, and safety compliance (e.g., hard brakes, accidents, driving violations)
  • Display proficiency in phone usage (MobileLink, FMHH, DOT logs, Toner App, GPS)
  • Exhibit excellent customer interaction skills (pre-call, training on new devices, networking, internal/external customers)
  • Accurately complete pre/post trip inspections
  • Successful completion of driver install program/training
  • Loading and strapping proficiency
  • Safety program involvement
  • Proficiency in use of delivery equipment (e.g., stair climber, dolly, pallet jack)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure equipment is safely delivered to the correct location
  • Maintain log books in accordance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual)
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip reviews to ensure vehicle safety, cleanliness, and compliance with DOT and state laws
  • Perform pick-up of product simultaneously with delivery to minimize costs
  • Perform basic connected installations, including setting up IP addresses, downloading print drivers, removing hard drives when required, backing up and uploading customer’s existing address book, and providing basic customer training on printing standalone and network devices
  • Participate in safety programs
  • Pre-call customers
  • Achieve expected productivity levels associated with assigned workload and experience
  • Demonstrate good technical and customer relation skills
  • Identify customer needs and determine appropriate action; refer calls to the appropriate party
  • Provide constructive feedback to service and process teams regarding networking and installation initiatives
  • Maintain professional appearance in driver uniform
  • Contact dispatch and/or service department if a technician is needed
  • Ensure equipment is configured according to the Bill of Lading, traveler, or other documentation
  • Properly load and secure equipment in the boxed van/truck
  • Use phone to capture electronic customer signatures upon completion of scheduled transactions
  • Ensure all paperwork is signed and properly processed
  • Assist with loading/off-loading trucks as needed
  • Help train new Delivery Drivers on new products and proper loading procedures
  • Follow all accident/incident reporting guidelines and procedures
  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory reconciliation when required
  • Reconcile inventory at the end of the day based on route completion and report discrepancies
  • Meet productivity and quality standards as outlined by manager
  • Responsible for an inventory value of up to $1,000,000
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Overnight stays may be required
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including forklift, stair climber, and pallet jack

Requirements

  • Ability to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations
  • Valid and current DOT medical card
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with company policy
  • Minimum 6–12 months of medium-duty truck driving experience and/or other driving experience is preferred
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment road test
  • At least 20 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent education is preferred
  • Ability to use maps and electronic GPS

Skills

  • Ability to physically handle oversized and overweight equipment
  • Identification of at-risk behaviors and ability to make quick corrections
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Familiarity with smart phones, tablets, and handheld electronic technology
  • Basic computer skills
  • Adequate technical skills to install and network equipment
  • Methodical approach to resolving problems
  • Adequate reading, math, and writing skills
  • May be required to be certified on operation and use of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklift, stair climber)

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions may result in serious injuries if proper lifting, moving, and driving procedures are not followed
  • Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling required to service equipment at floor level
  • Physical effort required in lifting equipment weighing up to 100 pounds and moving equipment up to 1000 pounds
  • Diversified work assignments requiring interpretation, comprehension, and application of complex material, data, and instructions
  • Exposure to office, warehouse, and van/truck environments with adequate lighting, ventilation, and varying temperature and noise levels
  • Frequent exposure to chemical solvents and cleaners

Pay

$17.69 - $22.28 per hour
