About the role
At Festival Foods, we’re all about making mealtime easier and more enjoyable for our guests. Whether they're grabbing a quick lunch, a side dish, or feeding a crowd, our hot bar has them covered. As a Hot Bar Cook, you'll play a key role in frying and preparing a delicious array of menu items that offer both convenience and variety. From fan favorites like crispy fried chicken, savory fried fish, and creamy mashed potatoes, to cheesy mac & cheese, and crispy potato wedges, your culinary skills will help us deliver the quality and flavor our guests love!
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional guest service, including friendly greetings, answering questions, and addressing concerns with professionalism.
- Assist guests by locating items, answering questions, and offering deli recommendations.
- Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests efficiently, following deli production schedules.
- Maintain high-quality conditions at the hot bar, ensuring all items are garnished attractively and adhering to proper protocols for item presentation.
- Collect food temperatures and maintain hot food logs to ensure safety and quality standards.
- Organize, stock, clean, and label the hot bar efficiently, keeping it well-maintained and ready for guests.
- Address and resolve guest concerns by practicing the boomerang principle to ensure a positive resolution.
- Honor commitments with regular, timely attendance and adequate notice for occasional absences.
- Support the team by performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to interact tactfully with guests and personnel, with good oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in fast food, deli, or restaurant environments is valuable, but not required—willingness to learn is key.
- Complete understanding of safety requirements and company policies, with proper training in equipment and procedures including slicers, fryers, and hot bar.
- Knowledge of perishable food and the ability to work at a fast pace, multitasking in a dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with various kitchen equipment and the ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to work at a fast pace in changing temperatures (coolers, kitchens, freezers, sales floor).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods of time.
Schedule
This is a position available for part-time or full-time hours. The schedule may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
