About the Role
The Deli Clerk is responsible for performing duties as directed by the Deli Manager and/or Assistant Deli Manager for the successful operation of the Deli Department. You will present yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times while maintaining high standards of customer service. Other duties may be assigned based on business volume and supervisor discretion.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers, ensuring their complete satisfaction
- Slice and weigh deli meats and cheeses to customer specifications
- Maintain and stock all designated department areas
- Clean all department equipment periodically throughout the shift and at close of business
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout department areas
- Set up and tear down all required areas at designated times
- Communicate departmental or store promotions to customers
- Be present at your workstation at the start of your shift
- Comply fully with all safety policies and procedures
- Adhere to the Customer Service Pledge at all times
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and strictly adhere to the Dress Code policy
- Ensure attendance is consistent to support overall department function
- Comply with all policies contained within the Employee Handbook
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as pounds and weight increments
- Ability to hear, speak, and understand the spoken word
- Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and taste or smell
- Regularly required to stand and utilize full hand and digit functions, reach with hands and arms while manipulating objects
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
