About the role
The Deli/Bakery Manager at Fresh Thyme Farmers Market is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Deli/Bakery Department, including staff management, sales, margin control, and inventory management. This position requires strong leadership, customer service skills, and the ability to adapt to a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepares weekly sales and labor projections to maximize department performance
- Maintains proper ordering and inventory control, ensuring accurate weighing and labeling
- Hires, trains, and manages staff, conducting performance reviews and training on policies and procedures
- Oversees shift operations, including scheduling and preparing for weekly flyers
- Ensures cleanliness and organization of deli/bakery areas, handling product rotation and expiration
- Manages department finances, balancing the general ledger and financial statements
- Monitors and controls costs, including temperature maintenance and product freshness
- Supports team members in providing exceptional customer service and product knowledge
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 4 years professional experience, preferably in grocery retail with deli/bakery experience
- Previous experience in a natural foods industry is preferred
- Advanced attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of MS Office applications
- Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to a high-volume environment
- Familiarity with Health Department guidelines and regulations
- Advanced math, weights, and measures knowledge
- Ability to lead and support team goals
