Deli/Bakery Associate
About the Role
This role is responsible for working independently to prepare food, fry, package, display, and stock deli and/or bakery products while contributing to the financial success of the store. You will ensure compliance with company guidelines for guest experience, safety, and food safety.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and produce bakery/deli products according to the production planner.
- Package and label bakery/deli products per program plan.
- Merchandise bakery/deli products per flight plan and merchandising expectations.
- Stock backroom with bakery/deli products, rotating and dating cases/buckets.
- Collaborate with other departments and stores to achieve growth in SpartanNash retail locations.
- Notify the bakery/deli manager if products and supplies need to be ordered.
- Perform basic mathematical functions (adding, subtracting, multiplying, division).
- Communicate tasks, recipes, weights, measures, and cleaning steps to other associates.
- Follow all PPE, safety, food safety, and cleaning guidelines.
- Adhere to guest experience guidelines.
- May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- One year of retail or related experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Detail-oriented.

- Must stand and walk for extended periods, and may bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Works in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and is exposed to outside weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
- Travel requirements vary by assignment.
