Deli/Bakery Associate

About the role

This role is responsible for preparing and producing bakery and deli products, packaging and labeling them according to programs, merchandising them according to flight plans, stocking backroom products, and communicating with the Bakery/Deli Manager about product and supply needs. It also involves working as a team to support store growth, following safety and food safety guidelines, and adhering to guest experience expectations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce bakery and deli products to production planner's specifications
• Pack and label bakery/deli products according to program plans
• Mercandise bakery/deli products according to flight plans/merchandising expectations
• Stock backroom with bakery/deli products - rotating and dating cases/buckets
• Work as a team with other departments and stores to achieve growth in SpartanNash Retail stores
• Notify the Bakery/Deli Manager if products and supplies need to be ordered
• Understand basic functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
• Communicate tasks, recipes, weights, measures, and cleaning steps to other associates
• Follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines
• Follow all food safety and cleaning expectations
• Comply with guest experience guidelines
• May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs

Requirements

• High School Diploma (GED) preferred
• One year of retail or related experience preferred

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents
• Basic mathematical skills
• Detail-oriented

Skills

• Physical stamina to lift and move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Bending, stooping, twisting, and turning frequently
• Exposure to varying temperatures and outside weather conditions
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
