Delegating Nurse - RN (PRN)
Position Summary
The Delegating Nurse (RN) at Cogir Senior Living plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of our residents. In collaboration with the Resident Care Coordinator, this position delivers high-quality care through initial and ongoing health assessments, medication management, and coordinated care planning. The Delegating Nurse oversees residents’ physical and psychosocial needs and collaborates with all departments to ensure exceptional service. This role engages regularly with residents, families, team members, vendors, and community partners. They provide training, supervision, and coaching to the clinical team while fostering a positive, energetic, and resident-centered environment. The Delegating Nurse is responsible for day-to-day clinical operations and for ensuring full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform resident assessments and reassessments in accordance with policies, monitoring any changes in condition.
- Communicate with the Health and Wellness Director about resident needs to ensure consistent service quality.
- When necessary, participate in hands-on care, medication administration, and specific nursing tasks.
- Schedule and assign caregiving and med tech shifts to ensure adequate coverage and compliance with staffing guidelines and department allowances.
- Supervise, train, and support care team members, promoting teamwork and adherence to care standards.
- Assist in the transcription of physicians' orders and the review of new physicians' orders.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records, including care plans, incident reports, and medical documentation.
- Career planning with home health agencies on-site, working within community and company policies.
- Address residents’ special needs, requests, and complaints.
- Coordinate admissions with the sales team, including supervising move-ins.
- Understand the community's care regulations, as well as state-specific regulations.
- Facilitate communication between residents, families, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care delivery.
Candidate Qualifications
- Education and Certifications:
- A valid, incumbent nursing license (RN) and a Delegating Nurse certificate are required.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- An associate degree or higher in nursing is preferred, or a combination of education and experience. Additional coursework in management is an asset.
- Experience, Competencies, and Skills:
- At least four (4) years working in geriatric nursing, including experience with medication administration, delivery systems, and pharmacies.
- At least one (1) year of relevant supervisory experience, including staff scheduling and management, is preferred.
- Experience with memory care is a plus.
