About the role
The Defense Specialist supports the Global Defense Team through competitive intelligence, strategic planning, program management, market analysis, and delivery of cross-line-of-business defense initiatives. The role provides actionable insights, manages strategic projects, and coordinates activities across regional, functional, and business unit teams to support growth, customer engagement, and executive decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Develop customer, partner, and competitor intelligence to inform strategy, business development, and capture activities.
- Manage and coordinate defense initiatives across multiple Oracle lines of business.
- Lead program and project management activities, including planning, milestone tracking, risk management, stakeholder coordination, and status reporting.
- Drive collaboration across sales, business development, product, engineering, legal, security, compliance, marketing, and regional teams.
- Prepare executive briefings, market assessments, reports, presentations, and leadership updates.
- Support pipeline development and capture planning through opportunity tracking, account research, and stakeholder mapping.
- Coordinate inputs for strategic planning, operational reviews, and leadership governance activities.
- Analyze global defense, national security, and technology trends across priority markets and regions.
- Monitor defense spending, procurement programs, policy developments, and mission requirements to identify opportunities and risks.
- Track progress against key objectives, escalating risks, dependencies, and issues where appropriate.
- Support customer engagements, industry events, and executive meetings through research and briefing preparation.
- Contribute to annual planning, forecasting, and business reviews through data-driven analysis and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable security, regulatory, and confidentiality requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Military, national defense, national security, and/or defense industry experience.
- Experience managing programs, projects, or strategic initiatives within a matrixed organization.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience preparing executive-level presentations, reports, and briefing materials.
- Strong program management, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Active national security clearance or ability to obtain a lapsed clearance.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain NATO Secret clearance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting defense business development, capture management, strategy, or market intelligence activities.
- Experience in international environments.
- Knowledge of defense procurement processes and government acquisition environments.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across multiple business units.
- Familiarity with cloud computing, cyber security, artificial intelligence, data platforms, or related technologies.
- PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, or equivalent project management certification.
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
