About the role
Schimberg Co. is a family-owned pipe, valve, and fitting supplier with seven locations across the Midwest. Since 1918 we've served a diverse list of industrial and commercial customers. The company is hiring a traveling Outside Sales Rep to support its Decatur, Illinois location.
The Outside Sales Representative is an industry expert in pipe, valves, and fittings. They will play a significant role in developing and maintaining lifelong relationships with customers and will be responsible for presenting and selling products and services to current and potential customers in the territory.
Strategic resources supporting the role include: an existing location experiencing growth through a commitment to superior service, quality products, strong supplier relationships, and knowledgeable employees; extensive support from an industry‑experienced inside sales team; knowledgeable warehouse personnel with equipment to meet customer needs; an extensive inventory of products tailored to key industrial markets; and access to a full‑service automated valve department staffed by experienced technicians.
Responsibilities
- Sell products and services to resolve customer's needs
- Identify and follow up with all sales prospects within the geographic territory
- Prepare and present sales proposals and product training
- Actively research and generate new leads
- Keep the inside sales team informed on information gathered in the field
- Continually enhance sales skills and product knowledge to promote a professional image in the field
- Travel to and from customer sites working a flexible schedule with some overnight travel
- Utilize the inventory management system to generate quotes and process orders
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience in pipe, valves, and fittings
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment background screen (condition of hire)
