Deburr Technician, 2nd Shift

About the Role

Deburr Technicians are responsible for removing small imperfections (burrs) from machined metal parts, complying with customer and industry specifications to ensure quality. The Deburr Lead performs regular deburr technician duties and is responsible for monitoring and motivating a team to achieve department objectives. This role requires ITAR compliance, so qualified candidates must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected person).

Responsibilities

• Selects the type of finish specified per work instruction to determine the amount of metal to be removed and examines parts for acceptability.
• Operates grinders and similar powered hand tools to remove burrs and blend or polish surfaces, correcting minor machining errors without damaging parts.
• Performs blending of metals, including steel, aluminum, magnesium, and titanium, and creates radii on parts by hand.
• Works in compliance with prints and written specifications, selecting appropriate methods and tools.
• Inspects equipment daily for damage, reports issues to supervision, and may perform minor repairs or preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
• May operate tumblers, loading and unloading the hopper as needed.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area and ensures others do the same.
• Follows directions consistently, accepts responsibility for actions and work product, and complies with manufacturing processes and supervisor instructions.
• Adheres to safety guidelines, proactively identifies job hazards, and collaborates with leadership to minimize risks.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Regular on-site attendance is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a production/manufacturing role requiring the use of hand tools and material-handling equipment is preferred; vocational training in metal-working or a technical role may substitute for experience.
• Experience reading and interpreting shop blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications is required.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) is preferred.
• Experience using powered electric and/or pneumatic hand tools (e.g., grinders, sanders) is preferred.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience is advantageous.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly stands and walks throughout the facility, including standing for long periods.
• Regularly lifts, carries (short distances), and pushes/pulls up to 50 pounds with assistance or equipment.
• Occasionally reaches overhead, bends, crawls, stoops, squats, or kneels.
• Frequently uses hands or fingers to inspect parts and operate tools or material-handling controls.
• Requires visual acuity to interpret gauges and measuring devices.

Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment with exposure to:

• Excessive noise (hearing protection required).
• Dust, smoke, mist, fumes, or vapors (regularly).
• Extreme temperatures (occasionally).
• Hazardous equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, cranes, and other machine shop equipment (regularly).

Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and safety footwear, is required. This position is classified as safety-sensitive.

Schedule

2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday, 2:00 pm - 12:30 am.

Pay

Shift Differential for 2nd Shift: $2.00/hr.
