DEAP Coordinator of Upperclassman and Engaged Learning Experience (Student Support Specialist)

Assists in the overall daily operations of the Dedicated to Enrichment, Achievement, and Persistence (DEAP) program by developing relevant programming, workshops, and initiatives for DEAP scholars in their junior year and beyond as they prepare to transition into their careers or graduate/professional school.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the DEAP Residential Based-Learning Community and DEAP Law Scholars Program.
- Plans, executes, and assesses programs, workshops, and initiatives for junior and senior scholars focused on career preparation topics such as networking, graduate school, resume building, internships, interview processes, job expectations, and professionalism.
- Oversees the DEAP Living-Learning Community in North Hall’s DEAP House, including recruiting and approval of residents, and collaborating with the Resident Assistant to develop community-building programming.
- Coordinates and oversees the DEAP Next Up Mentoring program, including recruitment of faculty/staff mentors, assignment of mentee/mentor pairs, and programming for the initiative.
- Leads the DEAP Law Scholars Program, including strategic planning, execution of programs, recruitment efforts, cultivation of student interest, and selection of DEAP Law Scholars.
- Maintains a network of campus and community partners to connect students with networking opportunities and professional resources.
- Assists with student recruitment and conducts individual intake meetings with DEAP students.
- Serves on various department, division, and university committees.
- Remains current on best practices in career readiness.
- Develops and implements programs and initiatives supporting students in crisis, facing adversity, or from under-represented or minority populations.
- Interfaces directly with students through programming events, advising student organization leaders, and conducting one-on-one meetings to discuss support needs.
- Gathers satisfaction feedback from student participants to improve future student services initiatives and objectives.
- Emphasizes confidentiality, university policy compliance, and a culture of care in all student interactions.
- Collaborates with staff across departments and with academic and campus leaders on shared student support goals, often coordinating funding for student programs and initiatives.
- Projects outcomes for support services at the program, department/division, or campus level and measures effectiveness against these outcomes.
- Prepares reports on impact to students and budget, and may present to stakeholders to secure funding for initiatives.
- Serves on committees and conducts research on student support best practices across higher education and peer institutions.
- Plans and coordinates communications for student support initiatives to ensure student participation, inclusion, and engagement.
- May provide guidance to other student support staff and make process recommendations to managers for improved service delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education, public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, business, or related field (required).
- Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field (preferred).
- 2 years of experience in student services, higher education, social work, counseling, law, or related field (required).
- Experience in program design, coordination, implementation, assessment, or evaluation (preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of college student high-impact practices, persistence, and retention issues (preferred).

Pay
$44,000 - $49,000 annually
