Dean of Adult Education
About the role
This is a Full-Time Administrative position at grade 19, with an annual salary range of $116,138 to $154,851. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic and administrative leadership for the Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), English as a Second Language (ESL) and Citizenship Programs at ECC and outreach locations, as well as the Hanover Park Education and Work Center.
- Develop and implement academic plans for the division that align with the college’s Strategic Plan and established goals.
- Direct and oversee division operations, including budget planning and management, facilities management, student success and enrollment data analyses, class schedules, and faculty load and contracts.
- Write and submit all annual grants and other required ICCB documents, oversee grant compliance and data collection, reporting procedures, e.g. Area Plan, GATA related documents, quarterly expenditure and data reports, etc.
- Represent ECC’s adult education program by participating in local, regional, and state planning agencies such as the Area Planning Council, Adult Learning Resource Center Advisory Council and serve as a lead in the field via statewide activities.
- Hire, supervise, schedule, and evaluate faculty and staff.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
Requirements
- Master's degree (MA) in Adult Education, TESOL, or related field. Two years in program management, including faculty and staff supervision.
- Three years teaching experience in Adult Education.
- Three years experience working with multiple funding sources.
- Previous experience managing a large program of educationally, ethnically and socio-economically diverse individuals.
- Experience implementing collective bargaining agreements and negotiating contracts.
- Familiarity with ICCB Adult Education and Literacy policies and grant regulations.
- Budget development and management experience.
- Appreciation for and ability to work with individuals from many cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Respect for the teaching, learning and evaluation process.
- Successful grant writing experience.
- Strong understanding of student learning and assessment processes.
- Ability to problem-solve faculty, staff, and student issues that escalate to the dean’s level.
- Able to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree.
- Knowledge of state adult education funding.
- Experience in an educational collective bargaining environment.
- Community College experience.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
