Dean of Academic Services
Role Summary
The Dean of Academic Services at Valor Christian High School provides leadership and direct oversight of Academic Services, including 9th Grade Seminar, the Valor Tutoring Center, Accommodations, and Academic Management, ensuring high-quality academic support, instructional excellence, and successful student outcomes.

- Academic Services Oversight
- Direct management of all Academic Services including: 9th Grade Seminar, the Valor Tutoring Center, Accommodations, and Academic Management, as well as the supervisory oversight of team members within these areas
- Lead the 9th Grade Seminar and Academic Management departments by managing programs, courses, and content, coaching faculty, fostering collaboration, and ensuring high-quality instruction aligned with department goals and school-wide expectations
- Lead onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing support of team members to ensure successful integration into Valor's culture, mission, and instructional expectations
- Oversee summer academic support programming, including staffing, student identification and placement, and enrollment in remediation, intensive, Freshman Seminar, Tutoring, and Academic Management courses
- Provide leadership and oversight of the ACT Test Prep programs and tutoring, and collaborate with the Academic Leadership Team regarding testing data and curriculum needs
- Serve as the communication liaison between the Academic Services team and administration
- Meet regularly with the Academic Leadership Team, Student Affairs Team, Department Chairs, Academic and College Counseling Team and other departments, ensuring communication and collaboration to strengthen student support and outcomes
- Serve as a conduit of interdisciplinary collaboration and programming; conduct academic care and concern meetings with families in conjunction with other Valor team members
- Assist the Admissions team with evaluating and documenting all incoming students on accommodations, 504s, and/or IEP plans, and serve on the Admissions Committee
- Department Strategic and Financial Planning
- Collaborate with the Director of Academic Development to develop, implement, and evaluate the annual Academic Services Operating Plan, establishing departmental priorities that advance student success and align with the school's overall Strategic Plan
- Analyze student achievement, enrollment, and program performance data to identify trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and implement strategic improvements to academic services, curriculum, and instructional practices
- Direct the financial planning and operational management of the Academic Services program, including annual budgeting, enrollment forecasting, revenue generation, expense management, staffing allocations, and resource planning to ensure the department consistently operates within budget while meeting student needs and strategic priorities
- Results
- Students will have been equipped to achieve greater academic success because of the exceptional oversight and execution of 9th Grade Seminar, the Valor Tutoring Center, Accommodations, and Academic Management
- Through collaborative partnerships, a school unified approach, high-quality instruction, and comprehensive academic support, student outcomes will have been significantly strengthened and improved
Education, Experience, And Required Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
- Relevant advanced degree preferred
- Experience in educational or organizational leadership
- Management and supervisory experience, preferably within an educational setting
- Experience in student learning, support services, and learning disabilities
- High School teaching experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong customer service skills
- Comeptent in navigating challenging conversations
- Solid biblical and theological foundation and understanding
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor with a positive disposition while working in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite software programs
