About the Location
Lone Star College-Health Science Building offers high-quality, low-cost academic transfer and career training education to 80,000+ students each semester. The LSC-Tomball Health Science Building is a 60,000-square-foot, three-story complex housing the Surgical Technology, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Nursing, and Pharmacy Technology programs. The facility includes classrooms, a medical library, simulation labs, an operating room, a clean room, a sterile room, and additional educational resources. About the Role
Working under the leadership of the Vice-Presidents of Instruction, the Dean of Instruction serves as the principal academic and budgetary officer for their respective division within Lone Star College. Instructional Deans are empowered to provide leadership regarding academic personnel, curricular, and budgetary decisions that further the academic, programmatic, and scholarly mission of the institution.
Responsibilities
- Leads instructional areas through planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Builds processes in the division and collaborates with other LSC divisions, VPIs, and Deans to ensure schedules meet student needs, class loads are efficiently distributed, and registration to final grade delivery is seamless.
- Ensures the division offers programs that allow for student success, including developing benchmarks through data-informed decisions, accountability, and meeting SACS, GIPWE, and Coordinating Board requirements. Oversees discontinuation of programs that do not meet student needs or are unsustainable.
- Coordinates and maintains a long-range academic plan for the division, including rollout, budget, staff development, succession planning, and community awareness.
- Guides the division in staying up-to-date on the latest trends in instructional methods, technology, and effective pedagogies, integrating these into the long-range plan.
- Regularly analyzes and evaluates instructional areas, fostering a culture of continuous improvement to ensure curriculum and instructional integrity.
- Develops and implements faculty and staff professional growth plans; oversees recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and retention of qualified faculty and staff; resolves personnel and student issues; maintains effective communication channels.
- Develops budget recommendations and manages budget allocations for effective, efficient, and productive educational programs and support services.
- Develops innovative and entrepreneurial partnerships to leverage system resources; expands relationships with external constituencies, including P-12 and university partners, community functions, and committees.
- Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree and at least 7 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience must include at least 3 years in a management-level position.

- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong abilities in curriculum and program development and effectiveness.
- Expertise in adult learning methodologies and evaluation of instructional quality and outcomes.

Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items (e.g., papers, books, small parts), or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.
Equipment used includes a PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment. Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.

Pay
Hiring salary range: $103,314 - $118,812.
