Dealership Manager Trainee
About the role
As a Dealership Trainee at Hunter Truck, you'll participate in a structured, hands-on development program designed to prepare you for leadership roles within the Hunter Truck dealership network. You will:
- Complete a structured Dealership Trainee program with rotations through all key departments: Parts, Service, Truck Sales, Leasing, Finance, and Corporate.
- Gain hands-on experience in departmental operations, policies, procedures, and skills necessary for progression.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with management, customers, and vendors.
- Attend OEM, vendor, and dealership-sponsored events and training sessions.
- Complete required training and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in your state.
- Demonstrate competence in problem-solving, customer care, creative thinking, team leadership, project execution, and group presentations.
- Participate in regular review meetings with department managers, the General Manager, corporate support, and a mentor.
Requirements
- Education & Experience: College degree preferred, or 2 years of work experience in the heavy-duty truck or related industry.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet applications; basic truck knowledge; ability to type.
- Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret business and technical materials, write reports and correspondence, and present effectively to managers, clients, and customers.
- Licenses & Certifications: Valid driver’s license required, must meet company insurability standards. CDL required and Vehicle Sales License if required in your state (both can be obtained upon hire).
- Physical Requirements: Frequent walking and driving; occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching; occasional lifting/moving up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
