About the role
Diamond Jo Casino is offering an exciting opportunity to begin a career in the casino industry through our Dealer School Program. This role is ideal for those looking for part-time work, a fantastic retirement gig, or a great job while studying. As a Table Games Dealer Trainee, you’ll learn to deal Blackjack and start in one of the most fun jobs available.
Dealers earn an average of $25+ per hour, including tips from guests—often more. A $1,500 sign-on bonus is available: $500 paid on day 1 of employment, $500 at 6 months, and $500 at 12 months.
Dealer school is unpaid but includes opportunities to work in other departments during the program if needed. Classes run for 3+ weeks, generally Monday through Thursday, with schedules based on candidate availability.
Responsibilities
- Attend all dealer school classes to learn Blackjack dealing.
- Perform basic mathematical functions and calculate payouts mentally with speed and accuracy.
- Stand for extended periods while dealing games.
- Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with loud noise, flashing lights, and potential smoke.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age with reliable transportation.
- No prior experience necessary.
- Must pass a timed, basic math test (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
- Must obtain and maintain an Iowa Gaming License.
- Ability to see, hear, speak English, grasp, reach, and bend.
- Flexibility in scheduling is a plus.
- Must be enthusiastic, team-oriented, and excited to work in a winning environment.
