Deal Quality Specialist ( Relocation to Saudi Arabia is Required)
We are seeking a Deal Quality Specialist to join the Strategy & Business Development Division (SBDD) within the Gas Venture Department. SBDD is responsible for sourcing and developing international gas value chain (upstream, liquefaction, marketing, regasification) investment opportunities. The Division also coordinates the execution of these investment opportunities and manages investments post-transaction, aiming to create a viable, material integrated global gas business by 2035.
About the role
As part of the economics modeling team, you will support the commercial business development team in developing the supply side of the LNG business. Your primary responsibility will be leading the economic evaluation of LNG projects, including plant investment and offtake trading, to inform investment decision-making. You will also engage with support functions such as Treasury, Group Finance, and Strategy & Market Analysis as part of the model sign-off and due diligence process.
Responsibilities
- Screen upstream gas and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) investment opportunities globally.
- Identify and screen project opportunities from internal sources (e.g., global market monitoring, reserves, expansions of existing projects) and external proposals through communication with gas & LNG industry players.
- Characterize and prioritize opportunities using defined criteria (e.g., upstream potential, project maturity, partner quality, project economics, local policies, and key areas pending Final Investment Decision (FID)).
- Handle complex deal structures, developing and interpreting data for highly technical and confidential analysis platforms.
- Assess pre-FID projects and coordinate the M&A task force to collect inputs from various units (Upstream, Gas Ventures Department Origination, Legal).
- Conduct negotiations with partners to finalize investment terms and execute transactions.
- Manage technical, financial, commercial, environmental, and legal due diligence processes.
- Oversee external advisors during the assessment process.
- Identify alternative investments for the Gas Ventures Department (GVD), including assessing acquisitions of stakes in existing or FID projects.
- Support management-level decision-making with reports on specific opportunities.
- Coordinate communication on LNG and gas opportunities across the organization.
- Provide market intelligence and ad-hoc analyses for specific project assessments.
- Supply necessary inputs for contract negotiations and management while involving Origination in the M&A task force.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering from a recognized and approved program. An MBA or other advanced postgraduate degree in MPA or a business-related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience, with at least 10 years in M&A, business development, transactions, and Gas & LNG work, preferably in a major petrochemical or energy industry corporation.
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain networks both within and across company organizations.
- Capability to work effectively within a matrix organization and with multi-disciplinary teams.
