Remote Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing / Orientation & Mobility Specialist Location: Remote Position: Full-Time | 100% Virtual Schedule: 37.5 hours/week Contract: 2026-2027 School Year Grade Levels: PreK-12 / Transition Position Overview TheraPeds Partners is seeking an exceptionally specialized Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) with formal Orientation & Mobility (O&M) certification to provide virtual services to students throughout the school year. This unique remote position is designed for a professional who can combine expertise in DHH education, accessible virtual instruction, and Orientation & Mobility programming. The successful candidate will support students with complex sensory and communication needs while collaborating virtually with school teams, families, and related service providers. Responsibilities Provide virtual specialized instruction and consultation for students who are Deaf or Hard of HearingDevelop and implement individualized instructional strategies aligned with IEP goalsDeliver remote consultation and instruction related to orientation, environmental awareness, spatial concepts, and independent navigationParticipate in virtual IEP meetings, evaluations, eligibility meetings, transition planning, and multidisciplinary conferencesCollaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired, audiologists, SLPs, OTs, PTs, special educators, and school administratorsSupport students utilizing ASL, spoken language, AAC, captioning, assistive listening technology, or other communication systemsProvide virtual consultation regarding accessibility, communication access, environmental modifications, and independent living skillsMaintain accurate documentation, progress notes, evaluations, and service recordsCommunicate regularly with families and educational teams regarding student progress and functional needsAdapt DHH and O&M instructional activities for delivery within a fully virtual environment Requirements Qualifications Master's degree or higher in Deaf Education, Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education, Special Education, or a related fieldValid state certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of HearingCurrent professional Orientation & Mobility (O&M) certification from a recognized credentialing organizationDemonstrated experience providing both DHH educational services and O&M servicesAdvanced proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)Experience working with students with complex sensory, communication, developmental, and mobility needsExperience providing educational services through a teletherapy/telepractice platformAbility to independently design engaging and accessible virtual instructionCurrent background/fingerprint clearance as required by applicable school districts Preferred Qualifications Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) credentialDual certification in DHH Education and Visual ImpairmentExperience working with students who are deafblind or have dual-sensory disabilitiesExperience with tactile communication and Protactile approachesKnowledge of braille and tactile learning materialsExperience with assistive listening devices, FM/DM systems, cochlear implant technology, and remote classroom accessibilityExperience providing virtual transition services focused on postsecondary independencePrevious experience delivering O&M-related instruction through telepractice Benefits Pay: $75-$95+/hour Guaranteed Hours: Includes direct service, documentation, administrative responsibilities, consultation, and planning time. 100% remote positionFlexible virtual service deliveryManageable caseloadSupport from both the district and TheraPeds PartnersW-2 employment with benefits availableProfessional development opportunitiesBi-monthly pay This position is intended for an exceptionally specialized professional with both DHH teaching credentials and formal Orientation & Mobility certification, along with demonstrated experience delivering specialized services virtually.
