DDC Controls Service Technician I (Colorado Springs)
Description
Position Purpose: As a LONG Controls Service Technician, you will support customers by troubleshooting and programming temperature control systems hardware and software based on customer complaints and concerns, or as identified by Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) software. Using your education, experience, and expertise in the commercial HVAC industry, you will perform emergency and preventative maintenance services on installed systems.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide inspections and assessments of the conditions of control systems for physical damage, wear and tear, and signs of degradation
- Perform preventative maintenance such as cleaning, part replacements, software updates, or system optimizations to minimize the risk of failures and malfunctions
- Utilize industry experience to troubleshoot any issues with systems to identify and implement solutions
- Educate system users about proper function and upkeep to products
- Supply information to customers about investing into necessary replacements or vital repairs that are key components to devices
- Keep record of all repairs and maintenance and properly reporting issues to the technical supervisor
- Perform modifications to databases for supported systems to meet customer needs and equipment manufacturers recommendations, in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents
- Calibrate and check-out control systems, and ensures that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met
- Instruct customer’s personnel on operation and maintenance of temperature control systems and energy conservation routines
- Provide information to update drawings and keep records of equipment for as-built documentation (submit all redlined drafting to application engineers)
- On-call work may be required on a periodic basis
Qualifications
- Ability to legally operate a company vehicle
- An aptitude for computers and/or mechanical equipment and a strong willingness to learn
- Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges
- Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability
- Strong customer service and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion up to level 1 of the ASP Program
- Working knowledge of HVAC, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures
- Programming and troubleshooting skill with KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems
- Computer programming or electronic technical degree
Physical Requirements
- This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor
- Ability to climb ladders and function at heights
- Inside and outside work environment
- Consistent in state travel to jobsites
- Hazards High precarious places, General construction worksite hazards, Possible driving in inclement weather conditions

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $36.05 - $39.90 per hr. plus potential profit share.
