About the role
The External Affairs Director is responsible for managing external communications and partnerships to enhance the visibility and reputation of the department.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic communication plans to promote the department's initiatives and goals.
- Manage media relations, including press releases, interviews, and public speaking engagements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
- Oversee the development and execution of events and conferences that support the department's objectives.
- Represent the department at industry events and meetings to build relationships and foster collaboration.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in external communications or related field.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders and the ability to build strong relationships.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in higher education or government settings is a plus.
