The DC Mechanic I is responsible for performing intermediate-level mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems. This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to maintain equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, including motors, conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues in a timely and effective manner to support production operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Fabricate and install mechanical components as needed using hand and power tools.
  • Perform equipment inspections and document findings using maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Assist in root cause analysis for recurring mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff, electricians, engineers, and operators to support equipment performance.
  • Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Provide guidance and support to junior mechanics as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training in mechanical systems preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or facility maintenance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with CMMS and basic computer skills.
  • Welding and fabrication experience a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in various conditions (indoor/outdoor, hot/cold, noisy environments).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
