DC Materials Handler - Outbound

Compensation pay range: $22.50 - $26.50 per hour. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance premiums, which may be paid per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed, and multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Responsibilities

  • Perform one or more DC outbound functions such as loading, picking, or packing orders for shipment.
  • Locate and pull merchandise by matching item codes and numbers on the pick ticket against part numbers on the merchandise.
  • Place merchandise in totes or stage bulk items in the appropriate area.
  • Mark completed totes by customer number and send them down the conveyor, ensuring they are labeled for the correct store and do not exceed 60 lbs.
  • Maintain DC standards for accuracy and productivity when picking orders.
  • Consolidate and pack all stock order merchandise quickly and accurately.
  • Itemize all products not shipped in totes on the freight bill as soon as they are received.
  • Date all freight bills with the correct route and total them at the day’s end, including hazardous material.
  • Operate handheld computers (RF units) and/or voice picking equipment at WMS DCs.
  • Check items off the freight bill as they are loaded, ensuring the number and types of items match the freight bill total.
  • Load trucks quickly and accurately, securing freight as it is loaded.
  • Keep picking zones supplied with totes as needed and repair totes as necessary.
  • Start printers as needed and sort tickets and labels by zone.
  • Operate equipment for any outbound functions.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area, disposing of cardboard and trash properly.
  • Serve as a trainer if experienced, ensuring all training is conducted according to schedule and documentation is complete.
  • Explain job duties and functions to new team members and communicate departmental or procedural changes to existing team members.
  • Maintain safety standards while operating equipment and identify unsafe practices and situations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and match numbers and letters quickly and accurately.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) desired.
  • Previous work experience in a similar warehouse environment preferred.
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired).
