About the role
Hybrid role based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ (3 days on-site per week). In-person technical interview at the client location.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL, Redis, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB databases in on-premise and AWS environments.
- Manage replication solutions for each database to ensure high availability based on application requirements.
- Administer and optimize AWS managed database services (RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, S3, EC2).
- Automate routine tasks and infrastructure setup using Ansible and AWS CloudFormation.
- Design and implement monitoring and alerting systems (CloudWatch, PMM, Datadog, MonYog) to identify performance bottlenecks and apply optimizations.
- Perform daily maintenance, health checks, and capacity planning to ensure database reliability across environments.
- Collaborate with application developers to design efficient schemas, optimize complex queries, and enhance performance.
- Work with DevSecOps to ensure timely application of security patches and upgrades.
- Develop and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.
- Generate ad-hoc reports and provide insights as requested by internal teams or stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proficiency with MySQL, Redis, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
- Experience with AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, S3, EC2).
- Scripting skills in Shell or Python.
- Linux administration experience.
