Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient database architectures across multiple platforms and environments.
- Lead and oversee administration and engineering activities for enterprise databases including relational, NoSQL, and cloud-native solutions.
- Drive database automate deployment processes leveraging Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
- Manage high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies to ensure continuous service delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise performance, capacity, and security of data platforms.
- Stay abreast of emerging database technologies and recommend modernisation strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Establish and enforce best practices for database governance, security, data privacy, and compliance standards.
- Lead incident response, troubleshooting, and ongoing performance tuning to uphold operational excellence.
- Manage vendor relationships, oversee third-party services, and guide off-shore team members in delivering quality deliverables.
Requirements
- A relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
- Over 10 years of enterprise-level database management, including hands-on experience with a broad spectrum of database platforms such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Snowflake, MongoDB, and AWS RDS.
- Proven track record managing hybrid cloud architectures and deploying databases across cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or OCI.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing diverse technical teams, including remote and off-shore resources.
- Expertise in database performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, and security practices.
- Familiarity with automation tools and frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, or similar.
Qualifications
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience working with Autonomous Database solutions and large-scale cloud-native data platforms.
- Knowledge of modern data engineering, data warehousing, and analytics platforms.
- Strong understanding of governance frameworks, regulatory standards, and best practices for data protection.
